On my last makeup job, a bridesmaid asked, “Do you ever get stressed out doing weddings? It’s got to be so stressful!”
There are a lot of stressful things in life. Things like sitting in DC traffic, juggling daycare pick-up’s and drop-off’s, desperately trying to find time to enjoy with my family, and feeling like no matter how much time in a day, there’s never enough to get everything done around the house.
But, MAKEUP IS NEVER STRESSFUL. That’s the thing about any type of artistry – it takes you to a different place in your mind. A place where you blend colors, and create without limits with each new canvas you touch. It’s a place we don’t too often reach in this age of breaking news, email bombardment, and social media – where the right brain steps in for the left. No analysis needed, time for creation.
The careful blending of a custom foundation, the merging of colors to bring out the eyes, and adding the highlight at the end that will catch every perfect ray of light from the cameras – that is my passion, MY RETREAT from the daily stresses.
